Description

For sale is this wonderful floral and foliate pat-sur-pate vase by renowned Doulton Lambeth artist, William Parker. Dating to 1883, this piece was made during the peak of creativity and innovation by Doulton Lambeth’s early artists.

This is a vase with amazing provenance. It is the actual vase illustrated on page 91 of “The Doulton Lambeth Wares” by Desmond Eyles and Louise Irvine. Further, it was also part of the famous Harriman-Judd Collection and still bears the sticker beneath as evidence of this. Executed in a striking blue with greys, whites and blacks subtly used to bring out the foliage and flower designs, the effect is eye catching. Explore further, and you note the interesting staggered line effect to the top border, and a delightful, green leaf design in warm green rising from the foot of the vase.

In excellent original condition with no restoration, the vase is fully marked with William Parker’s initials as well as those of the assistants, the Doulton Lambeth “cog” stamp and dated 1883. This is a noteworthy, important piece with terrific provenance that will grace any serious Arts & Crafts pottery or Doulton Lambeth collection.
