Description

This is a stunning MacIntyre Florian Ware vase by William Moorcroft. An identical vase is photographed in the major reference book: “Moorcroft Pottery, A Guide to the Pottery of William and Walter Moorcroft, 1897-1986.” by Paul Atterbury in 1987. It can be seen on Page 23. With delicately tube-lined ragged poppies staggered to centre around the vase, surrounded by further tube-lined foliate designs, the vase is absolutely striking! At 20cm tall and almost the same wide, it is also very much a commanding and substantial piece which can easily be used as a centre piece.

The vase is in exceptional unrestored condition, and has the etched initials “WM” and “des” to signify William Moorcroft as designer signed the vase. Further it has the James MacIntyre Florian Ware Burslem England stamp together with the Reg No. 326471. It dates to around 1900 so is a fantastic early signed piece of William’s work. This striking vase is for any serious Moorcroft collector, and will certainly not disappoint!
