Description
For sale is a delightful William Moorcroft Late Florian vase dating to circa 1918-23. At 12cm tall, and an impressive 18.5cm wide, it is substantial. It counts six main yellow poppy and forget-me-not flowers with another six secondary flowers, the natural green foliage set against a rich blue background. Beneath, is the green full signature of William Moorcroft together with the impressed Moorcroft Burslem stamp. The vase displays incredibly well with a lovely shine to the glaze.
The Late Florian design represents an early Cobridge production pattern which is highly sought after for its striking design and rich colours, and is rare to see.
Further the embellishing of tulips, poppies, forget-me-nots into intricate surface patterns against the emboldened colour-set, created a markedly different effect compared to earlier Florian pieces.
The vase is in excellent original condition with no cracks or restoration guaranteed. For absolute clarity, close inspection will highlight a tiny 1mm frit to the top rim which in our opinion is too small to warrant restoration. Further, there is a glaze scratch rising from the foot which is not noticeable when displayed.
