Doulton Lambeth George Tinworth Lemonade Jug

Description

Offered for sale is a wonderful lemonade jug by renowned Doulton Lambeth artist George Tinworth. The jug is decorated with his lovely swirling and beaded “Seaweed Scroll” design in the richest of green hues. Intermittent foliage in bold blue has been placed above or below the scroll work. The background is in an oatmeal colour repeatedly stamped with a small design to finish the aesthetic intensity this art pottery piece. The top is silver plated, worn in places, but has been intricately worked to the top which is a lovely touch.

In excellent original condition, this jug is early, dating to 1877. It is fully stamped and dated. Furthermore, as you would expect, it has the George Tinworth “GT” monogram on the foot of the jug. At 27cm high, it is a lovely size and will compliment any collection with style. Only aspect to note is that the silver plating is worn in places – we have decided to leave it as-is as many collectors do not like the original metal fiddled with.
