Doulton Lambeth Hannah Barlow Cats Jug

Description
This is a fantastic, early piece of Doulton Lambeth by famed artist Hannah Barlow, dated 1874. Depicting five cats surrounding their rabbit “kill”, a sixth cat looks on, not particularly amused. An unusual and interesting scene, executed in the skillful sgraffito that has made Hannah Barlow’s work famous worldwide. A beautifully detailed handle with scaled effect, together with simple, upright foliate designs to the upright spout section, round the piece off superbly.
In amazing original and unrestored condition. Marked to the base is the early Doulton Lambeth “oval” stamp with 1874 printed therein. Hannah Barlow’s initials as well as those of an assistant and the vase number are present and correct. This is absolute quality and represents a signature piece for the collector!
