Doulton Lambeth Hannah Barlow goat vase

Description
For sale is this wonderful twin-handled sgraffito vase by Hannah Barlow dating to 1886.
Depicting twelve goats in a wild scene with trees, boulders and grassland, this is a beautifully and well executed piece by one of Doulton’s most sought after artists. Note the delicate depiction of young kids nibbling leaves off the tree to comprehend the creative talent of Hannah as she introduced the goats in free hand onto the vase. In addition, the assistants have done a wonderful job of executing the top and bottom borders. A scrolled foliate design with a mix of subtle and darker greens represent the top border, whilst the bottom border are rushes that have been scalloped out of the clay to create a most tactile and visually appealing foot to the vase.
Offered in outstanding original condition, and marked clearly with Hannah Barlow’s monogram, together with various assistants and the Doulton Lambeth “cog” stamp with the date 1886. This is an outstanding piece for the collector of fine Arts and Crafts British Art Pottery and Doulton Lambeth.
