William Moorcroft Macintyre Aurelian Gourd Vase

For sale is this delicate and superb condition MacIntyre Aurelian gourd vase by William Moorcroft. Dating to approximately 1898, it is a particularly beautiful example, having crisp gilding and a mix of bold blue, red and gilded florals and foliage. Interspersed are scaled blue scaled patterns influenced by the Japanese floral movement in the 1890s. Two bands, one to the neck, the other beneath the top rim, are a rich milk chocolate brown.

In wonderful original condition, this beautiful vase is stamped with the James MacIntyre Burslem stamp and is unsigned, which is normal for Aurelian Ware. Being a particularly desirable shape and size, this is one for the Moorcroft collector who would like to add a very early quality piece of William Moorcroft’s making to their collection.
